SOUTH Africa-based DJ Nyanya has set his bar high for this year as he is looking forward to produce his own music for the first time ever in his 15 years in the entertainment industry.

Born and bred in Bulawayo, DJ Nyanya real name Nyasha Murenje started as host for the Ladies Night at Hustlers Night Club.

In an interview with Sunday Life, DJ Nyanya, also known as the Viper said, “One day on my show the DJ did not show up and I was put into the DJ booth to play and on the first day the response from the crowd became my inspiration because it was amazing.

The following week the club owner Mr Kwangwari by that time immediately changed me from a host to be The Ladies Night DJ. I began making an impact and my journey began.”

In the early days of his emergence in the field, DJ Nyanya fell into the golden hands of significant entertainment moguls like Charlie Fresh (late), Morris Touch and KC the Gig Master.

His stage name Nyanya came from the crowd meaning Wanyanya (it’s too much). The name in sync with his flexibility on the decks as he is a jack of all genres.

“As a young man I discovered my talent of being creative in relating fun to people and when I got a chance to do it through music it became my life. With my music I am an all-rounder, so I can play all genres for different audiences” he said.

DJ Nyanya was also a regular DJ at Savannah, Paparazzi, Windermere Hotel, River Dance Gwanda and also worked with top entertainment providers back then like music promoter and hotelier, Omega Sibanda.

“With time, I changed from being a DJ for clubs to corporate functions for example, Mega Fist Business Awards, Nation Wide Resident DJ under Mr and Mrs Matsika as well as Mimosa Mine FC Platinum resident DJ in Zvishavane. The list is endless.

“My mentor and godfather was the late Dr Worthwhile Mugabe (DSK) who also took me under his wing and exposed me to most major corporate functions nationwide including being his Resident DJ for all his companies.”

The 42-year-old DJ Nyanya is working with Mustard Beatz Studio on his professional mix-tape which is complete and will be released to the public and on all social platforms on a later date to be advised.

DJ Nyanya said, “All along I have been playing music produced by other artistes but I think it is now time for me to step up and produce my own music. I’m currently working on producing my stuff together with my producer.

For now, we wanted to expose the talent so my first mix-tape will be released soon and that’s when I will share my music on all the platforms.”
