WHILE some artistes have struggled to give audiences a crisp, clear sound, faultless sonics were the highlight of the One Spirit Concert hosted by the Bulawayo-based choir One Spirit on 25 May at the Family of God church auditorium.

Not only was the sound top-notch, their attractive stage lighting and the dressing were evidence that a lot of hard work was put in.

Vocal X, Effect Vocal Band, I Worship, House of Extreme Praise, and Jacob and Ready Hearts fired up the stage before One Spirit went on stage and ushered worshippers into a state of holy unity, as they praised and worshipped in one spirit.

In an interview with Sunday Life, Nigel Tatenda Nyamwenda of One Spirit said: “The Gospel sector really needs a push for exposure.

Artistes/Choirs need sustainable platforms to perform.

That’s the only way to excel.

So, if artistes in the Gospel Sector can get platforms to expose their music and also build a heavy social media presence, success is inevitable.”

He said the group was now preparing for the release of an album.

“The highlight was the versatile collaborations that blended well with the choir’s vocal ability.

Our intro song saw us feature great artistes like Lady Tshawe and dancers from Marcel Studios.

Our set also included music by Vuyile Qongo and a Kwaito feature with Mzistozz Mfanafuthi.

So being able to fit ourselves perfectly into that, really was the highlight.

“We want to increase numbers in our next events.

We also want to get a bigger venue as Family of God Church was packed.

Work more on showing people our diverse presentation and also engage more creatives into making sure we give fans a really good show.

We have started preps to record an album.

If all goes well, we will release that before the end of the year.

We are also working on a number of collaborations with artistes, so much music is coming your way.

Then we will host another concert in December,” he said.
