NOTA Baloyi, the controversial ex-husband of South Africa-based songbird Berita Khumalo continued his crusade against the singer last week, claiming she was fundraising through gigs as she had been homeless since she left their matrimonial home.
Baloyi ramped up his vitriolic attacks against Khumalo, instigating an attack that some social media users have claimed to be emotionally abusive and indicative of the torment he might have subjected her to while they were still together.
Nota has been on the warpath in the months, after it was a revealed that the two had been separated since January following another heated exchange.
Berita suggested that she had moved out of the couple’s matrimonial home for her own safety.
“The day I decided to leave my marriage is the day I had to choose between being married and being alive,” she tweeted, telling her fans and followers that she is no longer married to the media personality.
“I am no longer married to Nhlamulo “Nota” Baloyi. I left our marital home on Thursday the 13th of January 2022. As it stands, we are separated,” she said in July.
However, it seems that Baloyi, once highly respected in South African music circles, has found it hard to come to grips with her decision and in a series of tweets recently, claimed that his wife was of no fix abode ever since leaving the comfort of their home.
“My wife, the artiste formerly known as Berita, is homeless and needs all the sympathy you can give her so please support and get your tickets right now for only R350 . . . That’s an absolute bargain to see the authority’s wife,” he said.
In a seemingly sexist post, he also claimed that had he wanted to destroy her career, he would have impregnated her, something he said she desired.
“If I wanted to kill my wife’s career, I would’ve got her pregnant . . . She watched all the IT girls getting pregnant in lockdown and is still upset at me for not knocking her up. No promoter would book a mother? Promoters need to believe they stand a chance; a baby is bad for business!”

On Friday, the man who dubs himself The Authority seemed to have changed tune, posting intimate videos of the couple’s time together.
“The day of our last proper meal together . . . 8 January 2022, five days later my wife was a different person. Life hasn’t been as sweet since but thankfully I’ve had lots of time to prove myself right all along. My enemies got in her head & she gave up her marriage to please Twitter!” he captioned one picture.
“What I miss the most about my wife . . . The sweet video messages she’d send me. You don’t choose homelessness over your home unless you are possessed by evil spirits that don’t want you to be happy.
I pray for my wife’s deliverance from the demons that made her miserable and lonely,” he captioned another.
In August, Berita strongly stood against Nota’s online abuse.
“Nhlamulo stop it, you are humiliating me. Stop it I am tired of this. I am no longer your wife. We are separated. We have spoken about this.”
