THEMBELANI Ndebele, who goes by the stage name Tye, said “after not being taken seriously” by other record labels, he took it upon himself to start his own record label that focuses on local art and entertainment.
In an interview with Sunday Life, Tye said he has been a musician from a very young age and had decided to pursue it as a career after receiving encouragement from various people.
“Growing up I always had a passion for singing. It started off in church, I used to sing with my brothers from when I was five, then as I got older and more exposed people kept telling me that I should try singing professionally,” said Tye.
It was during this journey to discover himself as an artiste that he decided to start his own record label, upon realisation that the path towards being a fully-fledged artiste was tough. This is how Royal Entertainment was born.
“So, with the idea of giving people value for their money in terms of music we started our record label that was at that time known as Royalty Entertainment. I then did a few collaborations including “Respect and Speechless. We decided to try and buy our own equipment and while we were working on that we met a man “ Mr Mphamba” who sponsored us, helping us buy our equipment as well as getting space to work out of,” Tye said.
Once they had the space and equipment they quickly worked on signing artists to the record label.
“To achieve the goal of helping other artists with a platform to pursue their dreams, we helped a Talent scouting competition in January 2022 where we signed a total of 10 singers including rappers and three dancers.
Some of these signees include artists such as Andy Lee, Iso, Kylian, Quote, Anonymous N and a duo known as Umuzi Woshuni.
“We then quickly went to work on building the musical careers of these artists by hosting shows for them in order to be known by the public that listened to them”.
Tye said as his stable continued to host live shows, more aspiring artists continued to join in, to the point where they had a total of 22 signed recording artists, five producers, and eight people in the dance crew known as Infinite Phoenix.
“On August 21 this year, I finally registered the record label under the trading name “Royalty Palin Genesis” which means “Royalty Reborn”
“So the stable is now working on identifying talented aspiring artists of every form including Poets, Dancers, Singers, Producers, Painters and even DJs,” he said.
