POPULAR Zimbabwean musical artistes Aphiwe and Sobancane are gearing up for their show which is set to take place at the Bulawayo Theatre on 28 October, with the duo promising music fans a treat they are unlikely to forget anytime soon.
The dynamic duo, known for their exceptional maskandi music, promises to deliver a spectacular performance filled with love and passion. Aphiwe, born Aphiwe Surprise Moyo, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming show, stating that fans can expect a spectacular experience.
“We have been working tirelessly to prepare for this event, and we are excited to showcase our talent on stage. Our fans can look forward to a night filled with great Maskandi music,” he said.
In addition to their well-known hits, Aphiwe and Sobancane have exciting surprises in store for their audience. “We will also be debuting new music that we have yet to record,” Aphiwe revealed.
The show is supported by Sekunjalo Ma-Africa and Simunye Simunye. Calvin Mangena will feature as a guest artiste on the show. It will be choreographed by Arnold Ndebele, and hosted by Joyful Ncube. The journey to fame for Aphiwe and Sobancane began in 2021 when a video of Aphiwe singing a song titled Inhliziyo Yami while accompanied by his uncle playing the guitar went viral. The heartfelt performance captivated audiences across social media platforms, leading to widespread recognition for the duo’s musical prowess.
Following the overwhelming response to the viral video, Inhliziyo Yami was officially recorded and released as a single in 2022. The track quickly gained popularity in Zimbabwe, solidifying Aphiwe and Sobancane’s position as rising stars in the music industry.
Aphiwe, who is still in primary school, mentioned, “I have been drawn to the way Sobancane plays his guitar, that is when I started singing along, eventually leading to the creation of our viral hit Inhliziyo Yami. With their fanbase continuing to grow, the duo hopes to collaborate with other prominent Zimbabwean and South African musicians, such as Izinja Ziyamluma and Khuzani.
Building on their success, the talented duo managed to launch an album in South Africa in April. The album showcased their versatility and showcased their ability to captivate listeners with their unique blend of Maskandi music.
Handy Sibanda, the manager of Aphiwe and Sobancane, has expressed pride in the duo’s growing popularity, particularly on social media, as they continue to release new music.
