Sunday sermon with Apostle Chisal
Greetings beloved nation in the name of Jesus Christ. Psalms 91:1 says, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Those who dwell in the secret place shall become prime candidates for the manifestation of God’s power and glory. The secret place is a place of God’s dwelling. To “dwell” means to take a permanent residence and not to be an occasional visitor. The secret place is the dwelling place of God.
The Bible says if you seek for me you will find me with all your heart. God is not found on the surface. Neither do you look for God but you seek Him. This involves consistency. The secret place is also your altar. An altar is a place of dedication, communion and worship. It is a place of sacrifice where the visible have an intercourse with the invisible. The secret place is also a place of angelic trafficking. Every man and woman who wants to make it in life must have a secret place with God. The question is, “How many believers have a secret place?” There are five things you should know about the secret place.
(1) It is a place of knowing God. You can never get to know God without a secret place where you constantly meet with Him. Getting to know God is a process which begins with an encounter to surrender your life to Him. You can never know God outside your secret place. It is in His secret place where God reveals other aspects of His character. This is where we talk about the gift of the spirit, the word of knowledge. It is also when God opens a curtain a little bit for you to know what happened in the past or present. God reveals himself progressively. The word “revelation” means “to unveil”. You unveil that which is secret and so it is in the secret place where God unveils. Paul said that I may know Him and have intimacy with God. Paul was hungry to know God. We can never know God outside our consistent devotions. In 2 Peter 3:18, Peter talks about growing in knowledge and in grace. Growth is a process and so we need to be people who are consistently in our secret place. Psalms 103:7 says Moses knew God’s ways because he was always in the secret place, but Israel only knew His acts. Moses spent time with God. The problem with us is that we are looking for His hand and not His face. The hand represents His provision, His face represents His glory. We are busy looking for provisions from God rather than seeking His kingdom. With His kingdom comes His provision. For many of us, we don’t get into His presence saying, “God show me your ways, I want to fellowship with you, God change me.” In the scriptures we see David and Moses praying such prayers as “Show me your face oh Lord.” Those who spend time in the secret place worshipping, praying and reading the word of God grow in the knowledge of God.
(2) It is a place of transfiguration. In Exodus 34:29-31, we see how Moses face was transfigured and the reason being he had spent time with God. It’s only those who spend time with God who will have a transfigured face. Those who tolerated you will celebrate you when your face is transfigured. We also see in the book of Luke 9:28-31, that Jesus invited his three disciples to a prayer retreat on the mountain. He prayed and they didn’t. His face was transfigured and the heavens were opened. (3) It is a place of strict confidentiality. When you want to know the secret things of God, they are discovered in the secret place. It is a place where we share our secrets which we cannot share with anyone but God. In Genesis 32 we see how Jacob stole the blessing of his brother. He pretended to be Esau when his father asked his name. When Jacob was left alone wrestling with the angel of God in the secret place, he was asked his name and he replied, “I am Jacob.” Some of you have things that are eating you up, things that your pastor, elder, wife, friends do not know about. But thank God for the secret place, where you can tell them to God. No one will hear it, it will be between you and God. You need a secret place to say things. It is a place where you can say to God, “I don’t understand this”. Psalms 139 says, He knows our thoughts from afar. You can tell God, “I am filled with lust”, “I am discouraged.” You can tell Him all of this in the secret place. In Isaiah 6:1-6 we find Isaiah in the secret place saying, “Woe unto me for I am a man of unclean lips.” The sin of the environment had affected the prophet of God, but we see him acknowledging his sin in the presence of God. It’s not that God did not know about it, but he admitted to God that he is was a man of unclean lips in the secret place. It is here where he revealed what was bothering him. It is in the secret place where we not only tap into divine direction, but a place where God confides in us, because God will always confide in His people who spend time in the secret place.
(4) It is a place of divine conception. You conceive in the secret place. Prayer and worshipping is having intercourse with God. Your spirit fuses with God’s spirit and that is when divine seeds are released from God. In the last article we said the church is God’s womb on earth. There are two things that are needed in order to conceive; a womb and a seed. Any man or woman of God that has conceived the plans and purposes of God is pregnant in the spirit. So it is a place of giving birth. Thus church that prays, gives birth to the purposes and plans of God in the world.
(5) It is a place of protection. The promise of God for those who dwell in the secret place is that they shall be protected. If you want to hide from calamities that are taking place in the world, you must dwell in the secret place. Psalms 31:20 says, “Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.” The question is, How strong is your altar.
