House in CBD is set to break tradition and host an exciting event at the renowned bar this festive season, with a gig that will incorporate R&B music.

Since its establishment, House in the CBD has provided a platform for both celebrated and uncelebrated stars to showcase their talent to house music lovers, filling a void in the lack of dance music-oriented events in Bulawayo.

“House in CBD is a platform for celebrated and uncelebrated stars show casing their talent to house music followers,” said Philip Phiri, the entertainment manager for House in CBD. “It is inspired by the lack of house music-oriented events in Bulawayo,” he added.

One of the distinctive features of the event that has been slotted in for the festive season is the inclusion of R&B music, something that has never happened before. For that event, House in CBD will collaborate with local artists specialising in this genre, recognising the importance of diversifying the musical offerings and catering to a wider audience. By incorporating R&B into the event, House in CBD aims to introduce revelers to new and unfamiliar sounds while also promoting local talent.

“The Friends of House CBD will also have a slot dedicated to R&B under a session U Me & R&B where we also want to work with local artists who are into this genre.  This event will be graced by local DJs who we have worked with in the past events.”

The lineup for the event will consist of local DJs who have previously worked with House in CBD. These DJs have established themselves as reputable figures within the house music scene, ensuring that attendees will be treated to an exceptional musical experience. The event organisers believe that by showcasing underground music, they can further engage their followers and foster an appreciation for lesser-known genres within the house music culture.

The target audience for this event primarily comprises mature crowds who are passionate about house music. As such, the event strictly enforces an age restriction policy, allowing entry only to individuals above 18 years old. This ensures that attendees can fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere without any age-related restrictions.

House in CBD has expressed its desire to associate its brand with corporate entities in order to expand its reach beyond Bulawayo. By partnering with corporates, they aim to extend their events to various cities across Zimbabwe, introducing the unique house music culture prevalent in the CBD.

“We hope we can associate our brand with cooperates. We want to reach out to most cities in Zimbabwe and introduce the culture,” Phiri said.

In addition to hosting events, House in CBD is conducting DJ master classes. These classes serve as a platform for sharing knowledge and insights into market dynamics within the music industry. Aspiring DJs can benefit from mentoring sessions further nurturing their talent and helping them navigate the competitive world of DJing.

Overall, House in CBD’s upcoming event on 24 December promises to be an exhilarating experience for house music enthusiasts. With its focus on showcasing both celebrated and uncelebrated stars, incorporating R&B music, and promoting underground sounds, the event aims to leave an impression on attendees while contributing to the growth of the local house music scene.
