BULAWAYO gospel singer Lorraine Maplanka-Stot is making a name for herself in the music circles and is now working on launching a recording stable dubbed “Inspired Music”.

Maplanka-Stot is a minister of the gospel who started singing when she was in primary school and continued into high school where she was made choir leader.

Maplanka-Stot said she was inspired to have her own recording label after realising there were a few stables that work with gospel artistes. According to her the music label will target gospel artistes from all over the country, but with more emphasis on Bulawayo, her hometown.

“The desire to establish the Inspired Music label began when my husband and I were planning to record my debut album in 2016. We realised that there is no particular musical stable that works with gospel artistes specifically, hence the idea to start one which will help more gospel artistes,” said Maplanka-Stot.

She said once the label was in full swing, it would help gospel artistes to record and distribute their music so that they have exposure.

“As a born again and gospel musician I believe that every gospel song must be inspired by God, that’s why I’m going to call my record label Inspired Music. Every gospel artiste deserves only the best,” she said.

Her first project is the Women of Valour which was recorded on 1 May at the Academy of Music. The project that is aimed at empowering women to rise and make a name for themselves was launched successfully.

“My first project under my recording stable is the Women of Valour DVD which I did with several female gospel artistes in Bulawayo.

The DVD will be out in November and that is when the music label will start functioning,” she said.
