FOR more than seven years Pardon Kamubhadha’s source of income was from selling sweets, but he has managed to turn the story of his life around and make a name for himself as a renowned DJ.
Since 2011 the 24-year-old DJ has made a living through selling sweets at his shop House of Glamor and at times would deliver door-to- door for his customers to make ends meet, but because he always had a passion for music he would play music at small functions and weddings as a way of gaining experience.
“I am a DJ by night and during the day I am a businessman who sells sweets and chocolates, a business I started way back in 2011. I always had the love for music but being a DJ was never part of my plans until I met Mduduzi Mdlongwa, one of the founders of 3D Entertainment who cemented my love for music and gave me a chance to DJ at his place, that is when I developed the love for entertaining patrons through music.
“The chance he gave me opened doors for me and many people have been keen to help and pave way for me up the ladder. I have had people like Babongile Skhonjwa and DJ Dr Slam who gave me an opportunity to work with him. It has been over a year since I started working at Shisha and Red Café,” said Kamubhadha.
Despite the fact that Kamubhadha has another source of income he still loves his sweets business because he had fallen in love with what he has been doing over the years and also appreciates the business that has been sustaining him.
Kamubhadha said even though he has ventured into something new people still support him both as a businessman and as a DJ.
“I appreciate people’s love and support in what I do both in my business and as a DJ. I want to help young people who are still struggling in this trade because I also got assistance from those with experience ahead of me.”
