HE creates characters from the voices he hears in his dreams.
This is the life of Allan Ndlovu, a dedicated multitalented artist from Jowa in Tsholotsho who has managed to write multiple songs and produce films sold both in Zimbabwe and in South Africa.
Ndlovu, a 33-year-old man was raised by his grandparents and used to live a normal rural life from a young age.
He received his education from Jowa Primary School and Zibungululu Secondary School and later finished at Edlamini High School.
He would visit Bulawayo where he had relatives in Mahatshula suburb where he would watch TV and get inspired by the actors in various productions. In 2008, he moved to South Africa in search of a better life.
He was later able to produce his first film in 2019, ‘Sobohla Manyosi’ which sold over 50 copies in form of CDs. In 2021, Ndlovu cast in a film called ‘Igolide Lami’ where he also played a role as Bra X. It was only left as a trailer due to failure to secure sponsors, as it demanded a lot of money for a full production to be conducted. Due to shortage of money, he ventured into social media where he posted short clips for people to like and watch.
His films and stories are educational to people of all ages, including the way in which men treat the girl child and how problems within a family can negatively impact the lives of children.
In 2021, Allan Ndlovu ventured into Maskandi music. Although he has written dozens of songs, he only managed to record three single songs and an Extended Play which contained five songs. Through music he gained himself a name “Umathunywa Avume”.
His work was produced by “Izinja Ziyamluma”, a maskandi artist.
To get knowledge in artistry, Ndlovu was trained by Ye-Arts at Elub’elimnyama in Bulawayo, where they did stage plays.
“I was quick to grasp knowledge during training due to the dedication and the love I have for arts. I left to form my own group named Qhude Arts Production. I still wish to work with bigger artists in acting like Madlela and Mahlalela to gain more knowledge for I have a strong love for acting and music. I am hoping to get financial support, or even equipment in order to continue sharing the knowledge that I have with people and to be able to pursue what I love’.
So far, Keyona TV is broadcasting my work,” he said.
