ONE of Bulawayo’s fast-rising ensembles, Gospel Unplugged, vocalist Sipho ‘‘Snowy’’ Ncube is set to prove his versatility through his much anticipated debut solo album which will be launched on 3 March at Harvest House International.
Dubbed Hanya, the eight-track album is set to keep the city of Kings alight through the different sound fusion on the tracks which tickles on rock, house, mbaqanga and R’n’b. Featuring on the album is songbird Amanda Grace and Caleb Nsipha among others.
“I believe this is going to be one of the best albums in Bulawayo since it has been produced by one of the best producers in town, Erastus Nleya who has come up with the extraordinary sound in the album and the songs are a mixture of Ndebele, Shona and English which accommodate everyone,” Snowy said.
The solo album carries with it a message of encouragement and testimony of his life, on how God has taken him to be what he is today.
“As a budding gospel artiste God has been there for me through my career and the message that I’m sending out to all music lovers is that God is concerned about all of us no matter what one has gone through, God is always there to listen to our concerns,” Snowy said.
Asked why he decided to make a solo album, Snowy said it was high time he showed the world that he can take his music career to the next level though he is still with Gospel Unplugged.
“People have received me warmly despite my skin colour and they have seen something great in me hence the decision to come up with my own music and show my full potential without the shadow of Gospel Unplugged,” he said.
On the line-up during the day is gospel songbird Lorraine Stot, Carlos Phiri, Caleb Nsipha, Amanda Grace and Nceku.-@kayskudzai
