WEDDINGS were once celebrations that usually took centre stage during festive seasons but with time, almost every weekend weddings are reported in the City of Kings.

Thriving gospel star, who was recently appointed chairperson of Matabeleland Gospel Music Association registered with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, Sipethengani Sibanda popularly known as Pastor Barak dropped a wedding “gift” titled Bayatshada Namhlanje.

Pastor Barak, who has become a darling in Bulawayo, as he is known for giving less privileged food and blankets, said the song has been well received by people planning to wed.

“I have performed this song at weddings that I have attended, and the reception towards the song is overwhelming. I dedicate the song to everyone taking the important step towards marriage. A wedding is a very important ceremony and the fact that people are practicing it makes me very happy.

“People are gradually following my music. This can be noted in the Sky Metro FM gospel charts were my song has obtained position two and one for the past two weeks. It’s a humbling experience to be loved by fans and I will continue delivering scintillating songs to make them proud of me,” he said.
Pastor Barrack said his rise to stardom has attracted a South African television channel called RAPHA Channel, a gospel channel of the Shekinah Glorious Faith Ministries to produce one of his projects.

“Rapha channel from South Africa offered to shoot the video of my song “Anochengeta”. All this shows that I have become a force to reckon with in the gospel industry as I am going International. Africa will soon be aware that Zimbabwe is full of gospel sensations,” he said.

The UJesu Wami hit- maker who launched his debut album last year said he was currently working on album of hymns that will reinforce his status as one of top gospel superstars in the City of Kings.
