Dunwoody, (USA): A 47-year-old man from Georgia, United States has been arrested after allegedly keeping his own deceased mother in the freezer for years while collecting welfare checks, food stamps and even indulging in sexual activities with the corpse, reports the Atlanta Herald.

Owen O’Reilly ( 47), was arrested recently after neighbours warned authorities that the suspect was washing his naked mother with a hose in his backyard.

O’Reilly’s mother, Margaret O’Reilly, passed away in late 2015 unknowingly to neighbours who were surprised to see her bathing naked in an inflatable pool in her backyard while being hosed by her 47-year-old son.

“I saw Margaret lying naked in an inflatable pool with Owen hosing her off,” described one neighbour, visibly shocked.

“I hadn’t seen Margaret since she had left for the hospital two years ago and now I see her naked, lying in an inflatable pool in her backyard. It just didn’t make sense,” he told reporters.

“Casual sex”
O’Reilly told officers he originally kept his mother’s body to collect her welfare checks but also admitted under pressure that he occasionally indulged in sexual activities with the corpse after trace amounts of sperm were discovered on the body.

“She is dead, she can’t feel anything,” he reportedly told Deputy Sheriff Johnson.

According to Georgia State law, a person convicted of any sexual act with a dead human body involving the sex organs of the one and the mouth, anus, penis, or vagina of the other shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than one nor more than ten years. – worldnewsdailyreport.com

Your problems are not for ‘public’ consumption

confiding

Nhlalwenhle Ncube

THERE comes a certain time in life when one gets to a point where she feels like exploding due to some marital problems and all they need is to tell someone what they are going through.

It is so sad that after sharing your problems, you live to regret that moment and wish you could turn back hands of time or erase all the information from that person’s mind, but it will be too late.

You then begin to hurt because even after solving your marital problems, some people will still be talking about it.

In life, just know there are some problems which are not for public consumption and marital ones are on top of the list!
Every marriage has got its ups and downs, but just because you chose to make yours public, it will appear as if you are the worst couple in the world and once you hear that people have been discussing you and your partner, it takes away your dignity and happiness.

Some people parted ways with their partners’ and had heartbreaks which they could have avoided.

Unfortunately they shared their problems with the wrong people and it spelt disaster for them.

Of course it makes sense to confide in friends and family, but if you are telling them how much of a jerk your partner is and you want to make things work, you are doing yourself and your relationship a huge disservice.

It may feel impossible to imagine that things will get better. You might be feeling hopeless and really need to connect with someone because it’s not happening with your partner.

But if you have a seed of desire to make things better and a grain of faith that you might fix things, your relationship can be better than ever. And if you start trash talking your relationship or complaining about your partner to other important people in your life, you only have yourself to blame when your relationship is finally at its best and your friends and family just can’t fully accept your partner.

Just imagine when you tell your parents or friends that he is cheating on you. They want the best for you and the thought that one day if he continues with his behaviour, he might infect you with a deadly virus, will make them not forgive him.

On the other hand, you will discuss your problems and forgive each other, but some people will never forgive or forget what the two of you will be referring to as “madness” moment. So zip your lips to protect your relationship and tackle your issues together as a team.

I know that at times when you are having marital problems, your partner is the last person you want to talk to even though he is the perfect person to discuss your problems and tomorrow it will not be twisted, hurting you as well.

When relationships undergo difficult times it is normal to want to turn to friends and family for their help and support. This can be a good thing, but it also has the potential to introduce unintended complications. One thing is certain, you should use discretion and wisdom regarding the information that you share with outsiders.

When you are angry and decide to share with someone at that moment, you will not even edit anything, but tomorrow the same information will hurt you when it is being said by others.

It is not a good idea to go into specifics regarding negative details about your partner to others. Think about it, would you want your partner to complain about you or criticise you to others?

Would you want your mistakes, faults and shortcomings to become public knowledge among your partner’s friends or family? Obviously, no!

Generally it is important to maintain a mutual sense of privacy, safety and security in your relationship. You and your partner should both be able to feel comfortable knowing that interactions and situations which occur within personal moments will remain private.

At times sharing too much of your problems at the end will leave both of you and your partner heartbroken.

Having your private problems being discussed by outsiders always hurts. The truth, people fail to keep secrets! When sharing, make sure whatever you are telling that person, will not break you when you hear it coming from someone else. If it is a top secret, then keep your mouth zipped!

Chat with Sis Noe…She bursts into tears during sex

love 1

Hi Sis Noe
My boyfriend has a small penis. I don’t enjoy sex and I have had to fake orgasms. — Help.

Reply
Let’s get this out of the way first: Penis size isn’t everything when it comes to sex. For some people, it may be a total non-issue. That’s because not everyone relies on penetration for sexual satisfaction, and actually, most women don’t orgasm from penetration alone anyway.

That said, it’s normal to be a little caught off-guard if all of your previous sexual partners have been pretty similar, anatomically speaking, and this partner was smaller than average. And if you’re used to being with a well-endowed dude, that just might be your sexual preference — and there’s nothing wrong with that either.

You don’t need a bigger penis to have all of the orgasms, but it is a sexual preference just like anything else. This is something to remember any time you have sex with someone new: Nerves, anxiety, and pressure can all do a number on a guy’s erection, which might mean he’s not getting as hard as he could be.

This is actually totally normal — even for young men — especially if there’s not enough foreplay. It’s possible that as you become more comfortable with each other and have sex a few more times, you’ll find that his erections are actually stronger or longer. If you’re really wet, you might not feel as much sensation with a smaller-than-average penis. So I suggest you wipe away some of the excess lubrication and see what happens. Good luck.

Hi Sis Noe
My girlfriend cries during sex. She says it’s because she will be enjoying. I am afraid that I will be hurting her. — Worried.

Reply
Breaking into tears can sure seem intense in the moment. Sometimes those tears are a sign of it all being too much, but sometimes tears can be harmless, or even good! Plenty of women cry happy tears during sex. She might feel grateful that she feels safe enough with you to explore power-play.

She might feel relieved that you are giving her permission to go to places that she may have not considered before. Or she might simply be feeling a lot of love for you in that moment. If that’s the case, let her cry! It might be because she is in pain. But since she said she’s not in pain, accept her explanation.

Hi Sis Noe
I think my boyfriend is ashamed to be with me. He always insists that we meet away from the public. — Confused.

Reply
If I was you I would ask myself why I am still with a man who is ashamed of me. If someone cannot accept you for who you are then they don’t belong in your life. If you want me, you need to want all of me.

Hi Sis Noe
I was in an unhappy marriage and as a result I ended up having an affair with my friend’s husband. We have been together for a year now, but when I suggested that we leave our partners he ended things. I feel betrayed. — Betrayed.

Reply
I don’t know whether to be sorry or to say you deserve the betrayal. I am conflicted. Okay, lets get to the matter at hand. The situation you find yourself in now, reduced and defensive, can only be tackled by confronting honestly the choices you have made. I have enormous sympathy for your sense of betrayal at the hands of a married lover, but having betrayed your friend in order to experiment with her husband, you can’t be so shocked at the existence of deceit.

You should not have the good grace to say you were betrayed because to claim any sort of high ground here would be erroneous. He betrayed you, you betrayed your friend. There really isn’t much to choose from between you. Your friend’s husband was never your ticket to happiness.

You betrayed your friend and made a poor choice of a lover, both of which I’m afraid are entirely your responsibility. Surely it’s time to let go of whatever declarations were made in the height of the affair and take stock of your marriage instead. Friendship is precious, sometimes more so than romance, and you should think carefully in future before grasping whatever driftwood floats by, especially when someone else is already clinging to it. You are in an unhappy place, but at least some of it is of your own making. This man you are mourning has his bed to lie in. With the greatest respect, I suggest you find a more constructive way of clambering out of yours.

Hi Sis Noe
I am in love with a man who has a girlfriend. He had said he was unhappy and was going to leave her but now he has changed his mind. He said he loves me but he can’t leave her because she works and I don’t. I don’t know what to do. — Confused.

Reply
It’s your choice. Just look at the knots you are tying yourself up in trying to work out an acceptable narrative for his unacceptable behaviour. There are few qualities less attractive in men and this man of yours seems to be imbued with industrial quantities. Surely we can all agree that when you are being overlooked because you are not employed then it’s time to get real.

This is not the stuff of great love stories, but of ill-conceived dalliances, self-deceit and our deep desire to be wanted, often at any cost. I have no idea if he is genuine but even if he is the trouble is that his behaviour doesn’t make him any less of a bad man. In fact it increases my sense that this is a guy with little moral fibre and no ability to steer his own destiny — two qualities not at all appealing in a prospective partner.

I don’t really care why he is still with his girlfriend. Actions speak far louder than words — you are worthless to him. My advice is to tell him you will give him neither space nor time but intend to carry on with your own life, rising above his inability to make choices and setting your sights on someone who knows what they want and is prepared to make the sacrifices.

BULAWAYO is expected to be a hive of activity this week as the Intwasa Arts Festival koBulawayo, roars into life on Tuesday.

Despite the challenges that accompanied preparations for the city’s premier arts extravaganza this year, arts lovers will expect nothing but excellence for an event that has had its fair share of memorable moments over the years.

When festivities kick off on Tuesday, arts lovers from around Zimbabwe will no doubt expect an arts buffet from a city that has so often boasted to be the cultural nerve centre of Zimbabwe.

Below are our top picks for events to watch at this year’s Intwasa Arts Festival koBulawayo.

Bloom Bloom (Bulawayo Theatre, 25 September)
The production by Umkhathi Theatre Works will officially kick off proceedings. Although it has been advertised as an appetiser for this year’s festival, arts lovers will expect a full feast when the acclaimed city group takes to the stage.

“When the foot of an African hits the ground, trees bloom,” a teasing poster of the production simply says. On Tuesday, audiences will be able to see the beauty of an African spring bloom into life on the floors of Bulawayo Theatre.

Women, Words and Wine (National Art Gallery, 27 September)
Over the years, the event has seen memorable presentations, with some of the country’s premier wordsmiths coming to test each other’s pens. If the past two editions of the event are anything to go by, the wine will be sweet and the poetry even sweeter when the women come together for another evening of enchanting poetry.

Journey of Ubuntu (Bulawayo Theatre, 28 September)
All female imbube group Nobuntu will collide with their male counterparts, the legendary Black Umfolosi for what every imbube lover would describe as a match made in heaven.

It is very rare to find both groups at home at any particular time so local audiences will have a chance to watch the groups that have captivated audiences away from home

Comedy Night 1 (Divine Car Wash, 28 September)
In recognition of comedy’s growing influence on the country’s arts, Intwasa will this year host two separate comedy nights.

While Nceku, MaForty and T1nda are notable rib crackers, the line up of Clive Chigubhu, Prosper the Comic and Zwexy Mackena will leave many fans drooling.

Umcimbi Wabantu (City Hall Car Park, 29 September)
This promises to be a fitting finale, pitting some of the city’s best talents against South African legends, the Soul Brothers. For the likes of Madlela and Jeys Marabini, it will be a chance to see how their new projects have been received by fans, while for the Soul Brothers it will be another opportunity to prove that they are not a spent force.

Gofan march, conference launch

Franklin Chikwanda
THE 2018 edition of the Gofan conference founded and hosted by Apostle L Bwanya kicked off on Wednesday (19 September). The festivities always start with the world renowned Gofan march, a fun celebratory campaign through the streets of Bulawayo intended to create awareness and inform the public of the Gospel of all nations Gofan Conference (Gofan).

This year’s procession did not disappoint and people came in numbers to march through the streets of Bulawayo announcing to the world about the Gofan Conference and its mandate to spiritually revive all those whose relationship with God has been compromised by day to day dissapointments, challenges and pressures, preaching that Jesus resurrected as the only solution to any situation.

The Gofan march was graced by the Zimbabwe prisons Band who drummed the city of Bulawayo to life with their trumpets, flutes, saxophones to mention but a few, energetic drum majorettes from Founders High School and Baines Junior School.

Many who were part of the march were wearing Spirit Filled International Ministries church branded t-shirts, others wore branded Gofan regalia armed with their vuvuzelas complimenting the Zimbabwe prisons band .The Zimbabwe Prisons Horses also decided not to miss the parade and were part of the festivities. A march wouldn’t be complete without a classical touch.

And that touch was added by a red vintage convertible car which shuttled Apostle L Bwanya during the parade. A long stream of cars including Spirit Filled International Ministries branded shuttle buses lit up the festivities. The city of Bulawayo was on stand still as people looked out of building windows and came out of their offices and lined up the pavements armed with their mobile phones capturing the parade in HD and in colour.

Gofan partners from other countries, the United Kingdom, Botswana, South Africa and other cities of Zimbabwe were also part of the festivities armed with flags of their respective countries of residence. The festivities moved to the current Spirit Filled International Ministries at Security Mills in Belmont where the official launch of the conference was done. There the army band played inside the church alongside the praise and worship team, a hair raising partnership indeed. All the different departments were dressed to the nines. The armour bearers kick started the grand entrance in their beige and red pleated  air hostess inspired out fits followed by the choir followed by all our Gofan Partners from different countries and different cities ,as each country and city entered they were welcomed with clapping and ululating .

The praise and worship team did not disappoint glammed in black and gold inspired outfits their angelic voice inspired worship. The first guest speaker, Prophet Ian Ndlovu, of Divine Kingdom Ministries was introduced and his sermon inspired spiritual revival. He prophesied and made declarations. He made an announcement inspired by Isaiah 6, arise and shine for the light has come for the glory of the lord has risen upon you.

He thus carried on prophesying. ‘It is an announcement, I’m not doing guess work, if I came to such a gathering to do guess work I would be a serious clown. I know the glory has already risen upon you and it is something you have to accept as a reality, there is glory in this place. (SFIM)I just want to say a few things before I conclude, you know this church, when I am looking at this ministry; this is a movement.

The movement is not only the MDC this is a movement of the Holy Spirit. God has given a mandate here to start a movement of Holy Spirit in this country. Some of us think that if we had lived during the time of Azusa we could have done great exploits, let me tell you that you are living during the Azusa therefore occupy your position, this ministry is an Azusa.

There is a portal, do you know a portal? You cannot see it with your physical eye but demons can see it. There is a portal all over this place. You know a portal? It is a divine connection. I can describe it as an opening in the heavenly, which God has postioned over this place.

You will see politicians coming, you will see kings coming, you will see white people coming, people from the United States of America coming.it is not because you are smart that they will be coming but it is because of what you carrying. In some days you will not be able to preach in here because of the anointing that God has graced this place with. God will more than exceed your expectations. You will see people on wheel chairs they will rise on their own.

When I’m talking about the anointing God has deposited on this place I’m not only talking about this place I see you do service in stadiums, big hall and other places. When you look at this place and the number of people here you are joking.

Until you fill Barbourfields Stadium and the National Sports Stadium because I told you that this is not a church but it is a movement for the Holy Spirit, a very serious movement of the Holy Spirit.

People will confess witchcraft, and many things you didn’t know people were doing in families there will be confessing stuff in this place because everything lies open in the presence of God. God is releasing ministries, divine authority and government in this place, divine authority and government in this place, authority which cannot be resisted by anyone or anything.

When you see politicians, businessmen, professors and academics come pray for them they are in need of healing says the spirit of the Almighty God.”

After Prophet Ian Ndlovu had finished with his prophesy about Spirit Filled International Ministries the whole congregation started worshipping in tongues, a clear and sure sign that God had spoken.

THE Gospel of All Nations Conference (Gofan) hosted by Spirit Filled Ministries church has attracted thousands of people locally and internationally.

Thousands of people thronged the streets of Bulawayo as the conference was opened on Wednesday last week. The God anointed programme started with a march which began at the City Hall and then went around the streets of Bulawayo to Security Mills (Luton road) in Belmont where the church is located.

IMG-20180921-WA0012

In an interview, the leader of the church, Apostle L Bwanya said the conference was all about preaching the word of God. She also called people of all the walks of life to come and witness the preaching of the gospel.

“This conference is all about preaching of the Word, and I can basically say it is a revival and rebuild, not only the spiritual aspect of a person’s life but also their relationship with God. We are calling everyone to partake and witness the gospel being preached,” she said.

She said the conference was running its seventh anniversary.

“This event happens annually and this is the seventh year it has been happening, before it was called RIOT but we have since moved away from that name and it is now called Gofan,” said Apostle Bwanya.

This year`s conference was one of its own kind as it drew people from all over the world.

“This year`s event is unique because we were graced by people from all over the world. We have people from United Kingdom, Botswana, Zambia, the list is endless and most importantly it is the first conference after I moved from my former church (AFM),” she said.

The Apostle also believes that the conference will change the landscape of the gospel world in Bulawayo and Zimbabwe at large.

“I feel like this conference will change the setting of the gospel world because here we are talking about healing and deliverance, prophecy and we are expecting people to repent,” she explained.

One of the visitors Cecelia Shonge from United Kingdom expressed excitement at being part of the conference.

“I am very elated to be here and it is my first time being here. I am also excited to be representing UK as you know that this is a gospel for all nations, that is why we are here,” she said.

She expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who played a role to make the event a success.

“I would like to thank our congregants who took their time to come here even though it was scotching hot, drum majorettes from different schools, Fire Brigade, Zimbabwe Republic Police and Zimbabwe Prison Services who provided a band and horses during the march,” she said.

The Conference started on Wednesday and ends today with a service at Security Mills, Number 12 Luton Road, Belmont. The service today starts at 9 am, and today will also be the official launch day of Spirit Filled Ministries. Some of the key note sermons over the conference were delivered by Prophet Ian Ndlovu, Apostle P Matope, Apostle L T Zimbowora and Prophet O Makomo, among others. Gospel musician Mathias Mhere is also part of the Conference with a full band, as well as the Spirit Filled Praise and Worship Team led by Minister Chivasa and Minister Vincent.

How to shop for shoes?

shoes

Rutendo Chidawanyika

LADIES, I know I’m not the only one with a shoe addiction. I LOVE SHOES! You can never have too many pairs of shoes, the different colours, shapes and styles. Wearing new shoes tends to make one happy and you feel confident in the outfit you are wearing. On the other hand you need to know how to shop for shoes. Sometimes when you try on a shoe in the shop it feels fine, then as time goes it gets uncomfortable.

Buy shoes from a brand known for quality and comfort. Many well-established footwear brands are known for their reliable, functional footwear. Buy a pair of shoes from one of these brands to make sure that you are getting a high quality product. Do go for quality so that it lasts longer.

Buying the right shoes is an investment, not only are they expensive but the health of your feet is important. But how do you find ones that fit properly and provide support? Identify the shoes that cause pain. If you’re a woman, most of these will be shoes with narrow toes or high heels. Check to see if the toe of the shoe is narrower or shorter than your own toes.

Wait until the afternoon to shop for shoes — your feet naturally expand with use during the day and may swell in hot weather.

Wear the same type of socks that you intend to wear with the shoes so that you get the right fit.

Stand in the shoes you intend to buy. Make sure you have at least a quarter to a half-inch of space between your longest toe and the end of the shoe. Walk around in the shoes to determine how they feel. Is there enough room at the balls of the feet?

Do the heels fit perfectly, or do they pinch or slip off? Don’t think that the shoes just need to be “broken in” or that they’ll stretch with time. Find shoes that fit from the start. Trust your own comfort level rather than a shoe’s size or description. Sizes vary from one manufacturer to another.

Just like jeans, dresses, and anything else we wear our shoe size is going to vary from brand to brand. So just because you’re usually a size 7 in a sneaker, don’t go into a store and just grab any size 7 sandal, high heel, or even other sneaker brand. It might sound like its the obvious, but always, always try on the shoes you want to guarantee that the size you think you need is the one that actually fits.

Another fit tip. Pay attention to width! Place any shoe you’re considering next to your foot, and compare the widest part of your foot to the widest part of the shoe. If they’re the same size, great! If not, don’t buy them; they’re guaranteed to turn out to be uncomfortable later on.

IF YOU CAN’T WALK IN IT DON’T BUY IT!
When it comes to high heels, women need to be careful. Beyonce does dance in heels, it takes practice, we are not all King Bey!

It’s ok to rock your kitten heels if you can’t pull off the Pink bottoms by Pokello. What’s important is your comfort and looking good, if the shoe is too high leave it, we won’t judge. Don’t grab the wrong attention in a heel you can’t move in.

Wear comfortable shoes you can easily remove and put on when shoe shopping to save on time.  Invest in shoes for different occasions. There is no way you can wear heels to the gym, get a good pair of work out sneakers. This will make your shoes last longer now that you will be changing them up depending on the occasion.

Every woman deserves a good pair of shoes, it does not matter that you have more. Whether you will be called a hoarder or an admirer, one thing is for sure, your shoe game says a lot about your personality. Most ladies admit that shoes make them happy and they can never have too many. — Additional information from Online sources

THE fourth edition of the Gwanda Gospel Festival will run under the theme “The Walls of Jericho did fall”, as the annual gospel extravaganza celebrates Zimbabwe’s embrace of new leadership, as the country bids to turnaround its economic fortunes.

The annual festival returns just after the country celebrated the birth of the Second Republic after the 30 July plebiscite. It will run from 5 to 7 October.

In a statement read on his behalf by the Group Corporate Affairs Director of the Big Time Strategic Group Alison Darikai, the company’s group CEO and founder of the fest Justice Maphosa said that this year’s festival was all about celebrating the turning fortunes of Zimbabwe as a country.

“Our theme for this year is “The Walls of Jericho did fall”. This year is quite foretelling especially as we work towards rebuilding the economy of our beautiful Zimbabwe. We believe that the walls of limitation that have kept the nation stagnant are tumbling,” Maphosa said.

For three years the Gwanda Gospel Festival has been a haven for those that want to praise and worship God in style, and Maphosa promised that the same atmosphere will prevail at this year’s festivities.

“The 2018 line-up features a diverse range of gospel music heavyweights from either side of the Limpopo. Returning artistes include crowd favorites Takesure Zamar Ncube and Matthias Mhere. We’re excited about this to have this year’s line-up of gospel artistes with a genuine hunger for God and a deep inclination to worship him,” he said.

The festival has always been known for its stellar line-up of gospel heavyweights and that tradition looks set to continue again this year, with Takesure Zamar Ncube and Matthias expected to be the headlines acts, while Maphosa also promised that a few other surprise stars would perform over the festival’s three days.

Darikai said that although Maphosa was reluctant to divulge how much the gospel festival took from his pockets, he would make sure that it ran every year at all costs.

“It’s his altar to God. It’s an offering he gives to God every year. He will not disclose how much it costs. For him Gwanda has to happen at any cost,” he said.

GREAT dancers are not great because of their technique. They are great because of their passion. Meet a 22 year- old house/Gqom dancer and choreographer Mthokozisi Dube popularly known as Mtkay Ntwana, who believes that dance lives in him. Mthokozisi Dube said he started dancing at the age of 10.

“I started dancing at a very tender age. I think I was ten years old and there was school at the same time, but all thanks to Herentials College who gave me a platform to showcase my talent as they did arts competitions every year,” he said.

The solo dancer won three talent shows and he has even competed in South Africa.

“When I was still at high school I won three talent shows in 2014 to 2017 at national level where we competed with other Herentials Colleges,” he said.

The 22 year -old said he broke into limelight last year when he started shooting videos and sharing them online. “I started shooting my videos last year and shared them online especially on Instagram and I believe that talent can take me where education cannot make me reach,” he said.

He also said he can make ends meet through dancing.

“I totally believe that my career is moving at the right direction because I have managed to work with Dj Cleo, Bizizi, Distruction Boyz and Killer Kau (all South African artistes) and recently I shot a video with Nkem (Nigerian artist),” he said.

He also gave gratitude to his manager who is also his best friend whom they grew up together.

“My manager Ziphakamise Malemani is the one who inspired me to be where I am today because he realised that I was talented and managed to manipulate my talent by organising shows for me, pushing and pulling all the strings on my behalf,” he said.

‘There is no Mambo in Ndebele kingdom’…Cal_Vin whips up tribal storm

Langalakhe Mabena
Twitter users were recently treated to unexpected drama when rapper Cal_Vin posted a tweet that some believed to have tribal connotations as his ongoing battle for the Bulawayo hip-hop crown with man of the moment Asaph continues.

In a tweet, Cal_Vin real name Mgcini Nhliziyo posted, “There is no Mambo in the Ndebele state”, a statement which most hip-hop fanatics regarded as a way of discriminating Zimbabwean people because of tribal differences.

asaph

Asaph

One social media user who is a die-hard fan of the rapper identified as The alchemist (Twitter user name) commented, “Tribalism!! And then you expect us Bulawayo born and bred Shona people continue supporting you?”

Who was Cal_Vin referring to on his tweet? In a real scenario, the only Bulawayo hip-hop rapper who crowned himself as “Mambo” is Asaph (Tafadzwa Tarukwana) at this year’s Roil Bulawayo Arts Award (RoilBAA)after scooping the Best Hip Hop Artiste, the same category Cal_Vin was nominated in.

It’s not taboo and a new thing for Cal_Vin and Asaph to exchange harsh words against each other “nicodemusly”.

Lately, Bulawayo was trapped in some sort of an East Coast-West Coast beef where Calvin who resides at Luveve represented the western side whilst Asaph the North end boy represented the eastern side.

Even though Cal_Vin who seems to be the most vocal when it comes to the two wordsmith’s beef revealed early this year to Sunday Life that they have squashed their beef with Asaph, it still looks like he still wants more.

Still on the same twitter conversation, Cal_Vin responded as a way of explaining himself for playing the tribalism card by saying, “When a nigg* used tribalism to finesse the BAAs you were all quit.”

Perhaps Cal_Vin might be having a point that can justify his tweet. Before scooping the RoilBAA accolade, Asaph in his freestyle song titled Hate to Say, it had lyrics which says, “It’s fun I never win awards because I am Tafadzwa and not Thabani,” maybe it can be the reason he scooped the gong if ever his Hip Hop grind was never taken into paramount recognition.

Sunday Life managed to catch up with the two rappers and they both revealed that they do not have a beef.

On the side-lines of the Changamire Hip Hop Festival which was held in Gweru, Asaph said, “I did have a beef with Cal_Vin but we have since resolved it because I don’t have time to focus on beefs which won’t take me anywhere.”

On the other hand, Cal_Vin revealed he wasn’t referring to Asaph on the tweet and he was not trying to discriminate people based on tribalism differences, instead he said he was talking about the ancient Ndebele Kingdom which was never ruled by a “Mambo but led by “Inkosi”.

“The tweet was never about any person I was talking about the Ndebele Kingdom which was never ruled by a Mambo. I don’t have a problem with Asaph and I do not have any beef with him actually I am the one who paved the way for him” said Cal_Vin.

Chat with Sis Noe…Losing weight killed my sex life

Hi Sis Noe
MY boyfriend’s parents caught us having sex in the sitting room. Now I think his mother hates me and his father stares and smiles at me a lot.  I am now embarrassed and I dread going to see him at home. Should I apologise to them? — Embarrassed.

Reply
That must have been embarrassing and I am sure you are failing to even have a conversation with them. Obviously you feel you need to clear the air so apologise to his parents for acting inappropriately and embarrassing them. Explain it was never your intention to shock them and that you know you let yourself down in their home, which was inexcusable. Your boyfriend may choose to brush it aside, but you must follow your conscience to earn mutual respect with his parents.

Hi Sis Noe
For six months I have been visiting a man for hair dressing but what actually happens is we just have sex. I honestly don’t know how it all started, but I am still paying him for lessons that rarely happen. I am a married woman and I feel guilty and terrible but I am always looking forward to seeing him.  — Worried.

Reply
Clearly the sexual experience you enjoy with your hair dressing teacher is totally different from anything you encounter at home. I suspect, because it’s so illicit and naughty, it’s strangely addictive, but you can’t continue to deceive your unsuspecting husband in this way. Maybe your hair dressing teacher is mildly hypnotic, but sex is sex and not only are you cheating, but you are effectively paying another man for passion. He is a sex worker and you are his client. I urge you to sever all ties, have a sexual health check and concentrate on your marriage. Whether you tell your husband the truth is between you and your conscience but it won’t serve any purpose.

Hi Sis Noe
I left my husband because the sex was poor and I wanted to have excitement in my life. I have had sex a lot with different men but I can’t find Mr Right. I am now thinking I made the biggest mistake of my life by divorcing. My ex-husband remarried and he is happy and I am miserable. Is my demand for good sex too much? — Worried.

Reply
Of course you should have standards, but sexual relationships have to be worked at. You can’t sleep with a person and decide he is a washout based on one or two encounters. Couples need to communicate what it is they like and what turns them on. Stop looking backwards and concentrate on building love and friendship with the next person you are attracted to. Keep sex off the menu until you both feel a real connection. Maybe you fail to find Mr Right because these men think you are just after sex.

Hi Sis Noe
I recently discovered that there is a nearby man who chats and flirts a lot with my wife. I don’t want to seem possessive and jealous but I have seen them talking and I don’t like the way he talks and looks at her. He even comes home looking for her and claims its just business. — Jealous.

Reply
You should speak up. Talk to your wife to one side and explain that you can’t go on with things the way they are. She may not realise it, but this man oversteps the mark every time he gets cosy with her and flatters her — and it’s really beginning to get on your nerves. You are not being silly or overly sensitive, but you have seen him play the lothario and you don’t like it. It feels as if he is attempting to challenge you. No, you are not perfect, but you would not act this way with his wife. Ask her to see things from your point of view. Maybe it would be better for all concerned if you spoke out and changed this routine before feelings boil over.

Hi Sis Noe
Losing weight has completely killed our sex life, as my body is covered in rolls of loose skin. I look fine in clothes but horrible naked. My sexual confidence is at rock bottom, as I’m too ashamed to let my partner see me in the flesh or touch me. Why did I ever bother to slim? — Stressed.

Reply
You slimmed for all the right reasons, as you were worried about your health. I can understand you feel unattractive now, but every day spent fretting is a day wasted. If your partner is unconcerned about your folds, surely that is good enough for now? Keep talking to him. If you allow him to get close to you again, you will feel energised, cherished and loved. Sex is a fantastic confidence booster, so never say never. I also suggest you hit the gym and get your skin toned.

Hi Sis Noe
I recently discovered that my boyfriend of five years has been married for close to 10 years. He met my parents and knows all my friends. I have even met his relatives and friends. I love him so much but I am heart-broken. I feel cheated but at the same time I believe what we had was real. — Cheated.

Reply
You cannot blame yourself. If your ex-partner was a practiced liar, taking great care to cover his tracks and deceive you, how were you supposed to second-guess he had a secret life? It’s possible he got a huge kick out of juggling two women, and it made him feel powerful and desirable. But that’s not relevant now. The most important thing is to pick yourself up from this massive disappointment and bounce back. Forget about any form of revenge or attempting to engage with his wife or children — and certainly don’t have anything more to do with him. Rely on trusted friends to get you through this tricky time and you will emerge stronger and wiser.

Peter Matika, Senior Reporter
A 23-YEAR-old Zimbabwean woman has invented an Android phone – TPC, which is likely to put bigger brands to task.

Thelma Will who holds a Bachelors Degree in Accounting is the brains behind TPC Mobile, which also manufactures and develops other electronic gadgets.

As a young girl, Thelma said she always loved to tinker and even in her teen years, she had an insatiable interest in electronic gadgets.

“TPC is a privately owned company that designs, develops and distributes smart phones and other electronic gadgets. They are of great quality and are affordable. Local mobile phones are what Zimbabwe is looking for and we are here to deliver just that. Our mission is to relentlessly build amazing gadgets with prices that are affordable to the average Zimbabwean, so as to enable them to enjoy a better life through innovative technology,” said Thelma.

She said the phones were assembled locally, with a highly qualified team of experts.

“The phones are manufactured locally, which makes them quite affordable. They are durable and have similar features as those of bigger brands. Our aim is to pursue innovation and maintain an unwavering focus on quality and efficiency.

“We have realised that amazing products and affordable prices have to work hand in hand and they are inseparable. We aim to please the hearts of our users by building amazing products that exceed people’s expectations and offering them at honest prices,” said Thelma.

She said pursuing innovative technology was the key to her success.

“Pursuing innovative technology and outstanding design is in our DNA. Our engineers are obsessed with pushing boundaries of technology and they repeatedly craft every minute detail to ensure our products completely exceed our users’ expectations.

The spirit of innovation is deeply engraved in everything we do and motivates us to accelerate our exploration of uncharted waters,” added Thelma.

She mentioned that despite holding a degree in a totally different field, she had always had her sights set on inventing and developing technology gadgets.

“I had a dream of having my own brand of a phone. At first I wanted to have a fashion label but this dream is the one I followed. I have always been techno savvy and I remember owning 5 phones,” she said.

Presently the phones are largely distributed in Harare but the company is able to deliver anywhere in the country.

“We have four models but presently have released one. We want to constantly keep our customers and users happy with the latest models. The other models we will release will mainly target high end users. The features on the phones will be different from the rest and will be satisfactory to the users,” said Thelma.

As they inch closer towards an elusive album release, Kalawa Jazzme kwaito signees Stiff have released a clothing range that signals their intention to make money from other ventures besides music.

Fronted by Bulawayo born Diliza, Stiff has been waiting for an album release date over the last few years, with fans hoping that they would follow up on the momentum set by their smash hit Umcimbi.

Despite a few impressive cameos on songs by other artistes and a few singles of their own, Stiff’s album has remained shelved at Kalawa, as the tough to please boss at the label, Oskido, will only allow them to release a polished product worth the stable’s name.

However, the group has decided not to sit on its laurels while they work with the chefs at Kalawa cooking up their upcoming effort. Teaming up with the label’s designer Mokiti, the group is now selling Stiff branded clothing apparel.

‘We teamed up with Mokiti who designed the Kalawa merchandise to come up with our own line. This is something that has been in the works for a while,” said Diliza.

With the clothing line still in its infancy, Diliza said they were only selling to those that placed pre-orders with them.

“As of now this merchandise started by us Stiff while we are very much mobile. We sale and deliver to those that have placed preorders,’ he said.

With a single already released and a customary end of year visit to Zimbabwe pending, Diliza said they would be bringing their merchandise to the country of his birth.

‘We will be definitely bringing the label home because we want to spread it as far and wide as possible,’ he said.

Intwasa: Making the most from little

THE Intwasa Arts Festival koBulawayo which ended yesterday was again a master class on how to make the most with little, with the event organisers defying the odds as they hosted high class, well attended shows despite operating on a shoestring budget.

Well written plays brought to life by superb casts were the highlight of this week’s festivities, with plays like Bloom Bloom, Blood Tongue and Liberation attracting sizeable crowds.

While they might have been complaints about the organisation or lack thereof during last year’s extravaganza, this year signaled a return to form for the 14 year- old festival’s directors.

Despite the overwhelming support that some events got, there seemed to be something missing in this year’s Intwasa right until the penultimate day.  Whenever Intwasa rolls into town, Bulawayo is not expected to sleep. Although it has always been lauded for its interesting and engaging arts pieces in various fields, Intwasa has also always come with the promise of a party.

For those people who perhaps do not have an appreciation of higher art, snubbing plays and poetry readings, Intwasa has always been a place to have honest, hard fun more than anything else.

For the first three days of the festival this year, Intwasa might have been happening this year. The festival has after all, prided itself in bringing together the diverse people of Bulawayo through the arts.

In previous years the main stage has been the pride and joy of the festival, giving the city a party atmosphere for almost a full week.   Without it, buzz generated by this year’s fest, seemed to have also diminished somewhat.

According to festival director Raisedon Baya, the stage was availed for only the last two days because of financial constraints.

“This was a move that was directed by the sponsorship that we got,” Baya said.

He added that despite the fact that it was a major attraction at the festival, the stage was costly for Intwasa, even more so because everyone attended events for free.

“The Intwasa stage is one of the most expensive stages because we are charged upwards of $5 000 when it’s up there. It becomes particularly costly for the festival because it does not bring any monetary value back to the festival because it’s always a free event,” he said.

In the past, the festival had managed to have the stage up and running from the start to the end. However, this has not been the case over the last few years, with Intwasa forced to have its official opening with a play rather than the traditional big bash.

This, Baya said, was due to sponsors pulling out.

“We used to have Delta sponsoring all five days that the stage would be up but that hasn’t happened in a few years. So now Ingwebu stepped in this year hence we would have the stage for the last two days.”

Baya said that the late appearance of the stage was part of the festival’s evolution, as it began cutting off some features that might seem essential but are costly in the large picture.

“It’s part of the evolution of Intwasa. So events that you would like to hold for the benefit of the community you end up cutting off if they don’t make financial sense,” said Baya.

‘There’re better women than me’

Brita Masalethulini

Brita Masalethulini

Bruce Ndlovu, Sunday Life Correspondents
ALTHOUGH she has been spoken of as the epitome of excellence in the world of modeling, Brita Masalethulini does not see herself as the most beautiful woman that the Miss Zimbabwe pageant has ever produced.

In fact, the woman who first conquered Harare, then Zimbabwe before snatching the African crown at the turn of the century sees herself as more of product of effective and aggressive marketing than just her stunning looks.

“I can’t say I’m different from other women that have won Miss Zim. I think that everything is about time and place and some of us get profiled in a way that just makes them seem more memorable. I just feel like I was just more aggressive in terms of how I marketed myself when I was on top and perhaps that stuck in people’s hearts,” she told Sunday Life in an interview.

“I feel like there’s a better crop of women that we don’t know out there. It’s just that maybe they haven’t been profiled right or haven’t heard the opportunity to be showcased in front of wider audiences. They’re certainly many women that I feel deserve to be put on the pedestal but maybe because of circumstances don’t get the prominence they deserve,” she said.

As modest as she is, that cannot be all there is to the Brita Masalethulini story.

Hers is a Cinderella story for the ages. Digging into her past will reveal how an art student, plucked from the farm on the outskirts of Harare, became the apple of a nation’s obsession.

Fearful that the rumours of the globe’s impending doom were true, she decided to make her make her mark in life and clinched the Miss Zimbabwe crown a year before the dreaded end of the 20th century.

Two years later, Zimbabwe’s sweetheart turned into Africa’s darling when she walked away with the Miss Malaika crown.  Beauty is fleeting and Masalethulini decided not to linger in the world of modeling while the crown was still on her head.

Instead she went into business and over a decade later found herself on the hot sit as a presenter on Capitalk 100.4 FM.

It represented a serious shift for the woman who won a nation’s hearts as a fresh faced beauty during the Miss Zimbabwe pageant.

Having lived most of her life in front of television screens answering questions from presenters, she acknowledges that going behind the microphone was not an easy step.

“It’s been exciting I would say. It’s really interesting being on the other side. During the first few days and weeks it was difficult because I found it hard to balance the technical aspects and the output that was expected from me. Being on radio was a bit daunting when I started. Certainly the feeling that I got from being on radio was different from my reaction on being on TV in front of the camera,” she said.

While her beauty has brought her fame and fortune, Masalethulini says that it had its own drawbacks.  She also acknowledges that her first days on radio were not easy, as she needed the station manager to hold her hand as she took baby steps.

“Luckily for me I had a good teacher. Our station manager at the time Napoleon Nyanhi was someone who was very patient with us and he was basically training us step by step. In the end it was a privilege to have someone like that guiding you through the process.

“It’s all part of a learning curve. Because I believe everyone was learning during the whole process. Talk radio is a relatively new concept in Zimbabwe. So you get to learn what the listener wants and also the listener is getting to know and learn their presenter. It was an all round learning process because we’re all learning about each other,” she said.

Former model, businesswoman and radio presenter are all titles that Masalethulini has claimed at one point or another and she admits that life can be a little too busy at times.

“It can be overwhelming. I feel like I’ve got eight hours per day because there’s simply too much to do. But now I think I’ve found my balance. I roll with the punches and simply find a way to make sure that all my responsibilities are taken care of,” she said.

Having been regarded as one of the most beautiful women to emerge from Zimbabwe, Masalethulini has not allowed beauty to be her defining characteristics. Indeed venturing into business and then later radio gives the impression that Masalethulini a strong will and ambition has always been her greatest assets.

While she continues breaking new ground in her life, to many Zimbabweans Masalethulini will always be the beauty queen who stole their hearts, a pretty face that a nation cant dare forget. Despite this, she says she has never been afraid to lose her famous looks.

“I’ve never worried about losing my beauty. It has never been the basis of what I do. Beauty is fickle it could be here today and not there tomorrow. I’ve never taken facial beauty be the definition of who or what I am. Fortunately everyone is beautiful to someone in their own unique way. If I worried myself about how ugly I’ve become or how fat I’ve become I wouldn’t get anyway. Beauty has never motivated me and I’m more of a results oriented person,” she said.

However, she does acknowledge that when she enters a boardroom for a meeting, some have a hard time separating her past from her present.

“Yes you get people who look down on you because of your background in modeling. This is because people all have different perceptions about the industry and it all comes down to the people that you’re dealing with. I always try to make it clear that, look, I’m not just a personality but someone who’s serious about what she does,” she said.

Despite what some might think, her beauty and reputation has never been a tool for her to get ahead in life.

“I never approach a business meeting using my beauty as an advantage. When I step into a business meeting I have set objectives that I have to achieve.

The name Brita Masalethulini might have some benefit in one meeting but it might also have the opposite effect in another,” she said.

Although she might have worn many prestigious crowns in the past, the mother of three counts being a parent as one of her greatest achievements.

“Being a mother is a God given blessing. There’s nothing better for me in the world. If I was given an opportunity I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world,” she said.

A nation’s obsession with its one time queen has seen Masalethulini grab the headlines for all the wrong reasons a few times in her life. Her private life has been scrutinized and her image dented at various times. Through it all, Masalethulini does not regret the attention and scrutiny that her achievements on the ramp brought her.

“I just take it all as part of my life experiences. It’s an important part of me. I take responsibility for it all because I got myself into this. But also I’m grateful for all that I’ve been through because it builds character and teaches you to be strong,” she said.

The self confessed adrenaline junky admits that the little girl from the farm still lives within her, as once in a while she retreats to enjoy the little things that made her who she is.

“I have fun. I’m an adrenaline junkie. I love motorsport and most of the time you’ll find me at a racecourse. I also love painting. When I want to rebuild and refocus that’s one thing that I turn to,” she said.

Fresh from filling up the fill up the 30 000-seater Voortrekker Monument Amphitheatre in Pretoria, South Africa South African gospel sensation Dr Tumi will be the headline act of this year’s Gwanda Gospel Festival, with the gospel titan expected to open the annual gospel extravaganza in style on Friday evening.

This year’s Gwanda Gospel Festival will run from 5 to 7 October at Pelandaba Stadium, with a stellar cast of artistes from both sides of the Limpopo expected to thrill gospel lovers during a fest that is fast becoming one of the main attractions of the mining town.

The brainchild of Big Time Strategic Group CEO Justice Maphosa, the Gwanda Gospel Festival will run under the theme “The Walls of Jericho Did Fall” for its fourth edition.

“We’re quite excited to have Dr Tumi coming through for the festival. He recently added another feather in his cap after he managed to fill up the 30 000-seater Voortrekker Monument Amphitheatre in Pretoria, South Africa.

“That speaks volumes of his abilities. His ability to write canonical songs that transform lives is something we admire. It’s such a joy to have him come to Gwanda for the first time and we have no doubt he will put up a fine performance,” said Alson Darikayi, Big Time’s Group Corporate Affairs Director.

The second day of the gospel showcase is expected to be equally mouth watering for music lovers, with another multi-award winning South African star, Deborah Fraser, headlining the second day of the festival. The songbird set to share the stage with Durban’s Thina Zungu.

Takesure Zamar Ncube is expected to renew his romance with the fest when he appears for what will be the third time.

“Zamar has proven beyond a shadow of doubt that in an industry where songs are recycled every day, he is that rare breed who writes songs birthed from a place of prayer. He’s been part of the festival for the last two years and he has never disappointed,” added Darikayi.

Also returning to Gwanda is Mathias Mhere and ZCC Mbungo Stars.

“It’s obviously a star-studded line-up and we are hopeful that the people of God will praise and worship the living God. Gwanda has always been about giving praise to the living God and it is our desire to see people from all corners of the nation come and exalt our Maker,” said Darikayi.

Marijuana beer hits market

SOUTH Africa has got its first taste of cannabis beer, thanks to a Durban brewery called Poison City.
Last month, the Constitutional Court of South Africa, headed by Deputy Chief Justice, Raymond Zondo, decriminalised the private personal use of marijuana. This ground-breaking verdict left many South Africans on a high, optimistic about the possibilities of future financial endeavours.

And while the sale of marijuana is still wholly prohibited by law, South African companies are identifying ingenuitive ways of incorporating the ‘‘herb’’ into marketing ploys and products.

Poison City Brewing, a Durban-based craft brewery, jumped at the opportunity to infuse their liquor with cannabis, resulting in the creation of the Cannabis IPA (India Pale Ale) and the Durban Poison Cannabis lager. The perfectly timed launch of both these beers coincides with the Constitutional Court ruling.

According to Dispatch Live,  Poison City Brewing has received funding from a number of well-known Durban-based investors‚ including RCL Foods CEO Miles Dally and Spar CEO Graham O’Connor.

The Poison City Cannabis IPA is described as being a balanced American-style ale with powerful aromas and flavours. According to the brewery’s website, this hemp-infused beer has the flavour of Cannabis Sativa which complements the taste of hops.

Like the IPA, the recently released Durban Poison Cannabis Lager contains no THC — so, no, drinking this beer won’t get you high. But according to the company’s co-owner‚ Andre Schubert, the beer will still make you feel happy, thanks to its unique crisp flavour.

Durban Poison Brewing supplies Spar liquor outlets, Tops, in major cities like Pretoria, Johannesburg, Durban and Port Elizabeth. The beer is harder to find in Cape Town, with Liquor City in Claremont being listed as one of the few stockists.

Schubert confirmed that the beer was released nationwide in September, and is available for consumption nationwide. — thesouthafrican.com
